Flights and period

To get the whole trip cheapest possible flight is a crucial part in the planning of the journey, the earlier you book the trip, the cheaper it becomes. Therefore, we recommend that you always start by searching on the ticket at an early stage.

Only direct flights.

From Oslo:
Tallinn: approx. 2 hours
Riga: approx. 1 hour 30 min.
Vilnius: approx. 1 hour 45 min.

From Bergen:
Tallinn: approx. 2 hours 30 min.
Riga: approx. 2 hours
Vilnius: approx. 1 hour 45 min.

From Trondheim:
Tallinn: approx. 2 hours
Riga: approx. 1 hour 30 min.
Vilnius: approx. 1 hour 45 min.

Transport Prices:

Slight variations from country to country but mainly the prices below.

Car:
250 to 350 NOK per. days, including 100 km of small cars. Suitable for city driving.
400 to 500 NOK per. days, including 100 km of normal car, sedan class.
700 to 1200 NOK pr. days, including 100 km of exclusive cars such as Mercedes S-Class
The cars are often used cars ranging from 2 to 5 years old vehicles.

Taxi:
From the airport: In all countries there are separate price list that varies the different taxi companies but the price should never be higher than around 15 Euro from the airport to the various capitals. Price from 10 Euro to 15 Euro. A general rule should be to contract price påforhånd before one gets into the car.

In Lithuania, the taxis in very poor condition but rather the cheapest in the whole Baltic region. Mileage Rate from 1.2 (approximately 2.50 NOK) litas and up to 1.4 (approximately 3 NOK). We recommend Marton Taxis, tel 1422 domestic and 1.4 litas per. kilometer

In Latvia and Estonia, the quality of taxis far better than Lithuania, but the price is around 10% to 20% more expensive. But still there is a rule to agree prices in advance if you are unsure. In all countries, they have a takstameter which is mandatory but there are still drivers who fail to use it.

Shopping and prices

Balts are good at following products:

All Baltic countries have very good prices and high quality of these products. We can confidently recommend them.

Price level:

Beer (0.5 liter draft beer, restaurant price): approx. 1.54 EURO
Petrol 95 unleaded: approx. 1.35 EURO
Pack of cigarettes: approx. 2.72 EURO
Bottled wines (middle, restaurant price): approx. 5.29 EURO
Restaurant Visit: generally less than half the price of Norway or cheaper.

When it comes to general shopping prices of clothing, shoes and other everyday items is the price about 20% to 30% cheaper than in Norway but in the fall and spring, the stores often have great promotions with up to 70% discount, which you can make a coup.
There are local markets where scarce Balts act. In these markets the price is only 50% and cheaper than Norwegian prices or very inexpensive but quality is also then. Yet it is worth to mention that sometimes you find something worth buying. It can also give an indication of how the local population cope with the low wages that is from 2000 NOK to 5000 NOK pr. month's regular wages.
